How to Pin Photos from Instagram to Pinterest

A small miracle happened in my world today - I discovered I could pin photos from Instagram to Pinterest, both on my computer and on my mobile phone.

This could be earth shattering for me - I use to hate Pinterest, mainly because I could not intertwine my Instagram photos - without a huge headache.

NOW - I could very well fall in love with Pinterest.

How to pin your photos from Instagram to Pinterest.

Instagram is still a mobile app - since most people use it on mobile I am going to first show you how to pin your photos via the mobile apps first.

First post a photo on Instagram , use one that you have already posted, or you can use these tips to pin someone else's photos like I have done here.

Go to the Instagram the photo and you will see this:

You need to click on those 3 dots that I have circled in red, when you click this will pop up.

Magically more options appear - to pin the photo you need to Copy Share Url - you do that by just tapping it.

Once the URL is copied you will get a green notification (link copied to clipboard) that looks like this:

You are ready to now pin the image on Pinterest!  First you need to open you Pinterest Mobile App, when you open it you may see something in blue at the bottom of the screen - if you do, click it.  It will automatically take you through the steps of pining.

If you do not see the blue line, you will need to do a manual upload from a website, so you will go to the + symbol.

You will need to select the web option (world image) then you will be taken to this screen:

Simply paste the URL of the Instagram Image you would like to share.  Then you will be taken to this screen:

Now I have noticed this screen stalling, or going blank, or not appearing - if it does, just re-paste your link and try again.   Once Pinterest finds your image you will see this screen:

Obviously you will pick your image - there should only be 1 image.  Once you have selected your image you will be brought to this screen:

This will be where you select what board you choose to pin this photo to - please note if you belong to group boards, know their rules for pinning photos.

Once you have selected your board you will be brought to this screen:

Now you are either done with the photo or you can Edit the description:

That little pencil inside the circle will give you the option to edit the description, change your URL (in case you want the photo link back to an article), and add location.

You may want to at least give a better description of the photo - and if it is not your photo - give credit the person whose photo it is.

Now Pinning from the Web:

Many people do not realize they can view, comment, and follow people on Instagram from their PC - ironically the only thing you cannot do on the Instagram website from your computer is upload photos.

To pin photos from Instagram there is 2 options.

1.  Click the photo you want to pin and then use your pin button from your tool bar - that is probably easiest.

2.  Copy and paste the URL into Pinterest, just like you would do any other website you are pinning from.

Then click over to Pinterest and click the upload button:

From there you have the same steps as you do in mobile; selecting boards, editing pin, and sharing over other social networks.

Happy Pinning you all - if you have any questions feel free to ask!

How to share my Instagram Photos to my Facebook Business Page

Okay Friends, Instagram has made our lives easier!  They allow you to share your photos to your Facebook Business Page.
This makes it easier for those who follow you to see your amazing Instagram Photos.
Here is the steps to change your share settings on Instagram.  Yes, I used my own account on here, so you get to see my stunning (sarcasm) face.

Step 1:  Go into your Instagram account and you see the gear looking circle to the right, click that.

Step 2.  You will be taking to this page, you need to go to the share settings and click that.

Step 3.  You will then be taken to this page, you will want to click Facebook, as we are working with Facebook Pages.

Step 4.  It will take you to this screen, if you have not already authorized Instagram to access Facebook, it will send you over to Facebook and a box will pop up asking you for permission to access, you simply click yes.

Once that is granted, then you need to click share to.

Step 5.   Choose where you share to, as you can see it list all the pages I have admin over (far too many).  Choose the one you would like to share to, then exit back out of this and you will be good to go.

How to become an Instgram Rock Star

Instagram is one of the fastest growing social networks, Why? It gives you the ability to be artistic and people are always drawn to photos.

Being an Instagram rock star is more than just having thousands of followers, yes we want lots of followers, but what impact do you make if you don't inspire someone by your photos.

I love Instagram, mostly because I love photography, I love being artistic, and I love expressing myself through photography.

I often get asked how do you make your photos look so fabulous, ironically I don't do a ton of editing on my Instagram photos, I very rarely actually use a filter, but I do use the brightness setting some.

My main purpose of using Instagram is that I can share it on my other social networks instantly, along with Instagram being a social network....I like to be social also.

Here is my tips to success:

Be original - everyone (including me) does the duck face, selfies (yes I do selfies too..especially with my kids), or swimsuit pics to catch eyes.  Really those are overrated, unless you are using them for profile pics and need fix your face blemishes with filters (I do this to).  Sorry ladies, I spilled the secret!

What is amazing to you?  I find the most hilarious things amazing, like my neighbors Keep Out sign.  It looks like it is wrote in blood, so I shot a picture of it.  I think dirt roads, barns, sunrises, sunsets, the mean turkey in my backyard, and other out of the ordinary things are amazing.   I rarely press like on someones dinner, unless it looks like sculpture or something.  I do occasionally share photos of food, but only when I am dining out and want to let people know that restaurant actually exists, and the rare occasion that one of the men in my house actually cooks....then I blast that news!

When I am photographing people I do occasionally share, but I try not photograph the mocked up pics, often they have no clue I have captured them.  That is the beauty of it, I like the unaltered moments of life....just as life really is.

Be daring!  I once stood at the edge of the train tracks just to capture an image, the picture was priceless and I knew no one else had captured it the same as me....even though I was on a press trip and there was 100+ cameras around me.

Don't be a copycat,  Geshh this is biggest flaw with modern day photographers.  Are photographers not still artist?  I see so many mocked up interesting ideas of ways to capture that perfect photo.  Okay seriously who carries around a list of ideas of how to capture life?  Not I my dear, I carry my Iphone and when the mood strikes I snap the photo....some times I stop the car in the middle of the road.

Do not take your picture with the Instagram app, use your regular camera on your mobile device and then crop, edit, and share through Instagram.  Why?  It is harder to get a clear photo through apps on your mobile device, so take a few photos on your mobile device, pick the best one, and run it through Instagram.

Share Share Share, is your Instagram linked to your Twitter and Facebook?  I am waiting for the day they are linked to Google+....sighh!  Did you know that you can Pin your Instagram Photos?  Yep, you just have to log on from a computer (using Webstagram or Statigram) and pin like you do from normal websites......I personally suck at Pinterest, but I occasionally remember to pin my own photos!  You can also upload the photos directly to Pinterest and then go back and add the original Instagram link in, this may work best as it leads the other user back to your Instagram account.

Check your Instagram settings, are you a public or private user? This can be good or bad, if you are using Instagram for a social network, you better make sure you are a PUBLIC user!

Last but not least, #hashtag and @ (tag) other users!  Instagram works like Twitter and if you want your photos to be found then you better use #hashtags.  You can also Direct Message now on Instagram, this may work best when you are talking about a specific business and want them to see your photo.

Good Luck Folks and you are welcome to follow me on Instagram (Becky Davenport)!

Relationships Change as Fast as People Change their Facebook Profile Picture

So for the second time this week I have logged onto Facebook and suddenly noticed that a friend of mine
has changed their profile picture and there is a NEW MAN in the pic.....

I am not talking about them suddenly getting a boyfriend, I am talking about them going from one man in the profile picture to a new man in the picture.

This sometimes really CONFUSES me....maybe I am simple minded, maybe I am behind times, heck I don't know what I am, but I am confused.

The simple fact is you cannot jump from one relationship to another, it just don't work...you have to have break between men/women.  Your heart has to heal!

What I don't understand the most is how someone who has a beautiful family, can suddenly drop everything and walk out the door for someone else.....In the past year I have watched other families fall apart, people fall apart, and lives be destroyed for "lust".....what is sad I have not just seen this in one or two families, I have seen this in numerous families.

I can assure you men and women the grass may be greener on the other side, but the cow is often fatter, and the shit is deeper....it is as simple as that.

If you marriage or relationship is falling apart, STOP what you are doing, PAUSE your life, and take a look at reality.   Some relationships are not salvageable, I get that, but maybe your marriage or relationship is not able to be saved, but the damage you do while you are ending it can be stopped or lessened.

Personally I feel that couples should be required to go through counseling prior to divorce or custody cases....I know this seem far fetched, but as a mother that shares custody with the the father of her children, I can say it would have been a whole lot easier to do if I did not have to mull through the pain of the what he did, what he didn't do, and oh shit his new girlfriend is in the car with him...I'm not ready for another woman to be influencing my children....

You see parents, in the long run it is not about you, it is about your kids.  It is about bridge or GAP you build between the family.....so the next time you go to change your Facebook profile picture/relationship status, STOP think about who it is going to impact, see if there is any way to slow down the pace, stop the damage, and salvage what bonds you have with your last profile picture/significant other.

A few weeks back I put up my post What the Heck is Instagramand days later I hopped on an Airplane and was off to Dallas Texas for theFamily Travel Conference only to learn more about Social Networking, and what it can do for you.

I know we sitting here in the Midwest and Social Networking seems to be just too time consuming.  I get it, I just spent the last 20 minutes scheduling my Tweets, and Facebook status updates for the next week.

Back to Instagram and what it can do for you, Instagram is fabulous, or Facebook wouldn’t have just bought it out.  Now what can it do for you?  Well first make your photos look amazing, I discussed that earlier, share them promptly, but as a local business Instagram can really draw people into your business.

Example (we are after all the “Show Me State”)  say you are running an Antique Store and you happen to have this fabulous whatever it is come in the store, you can snap a picture of this fabulous item, pick your famous #hashtag, and instantly bomb multiple Social Networks with one click!  Bam!  This makes you a Social Networking Diva or Rockstar!   Instagrammarks the location, you can gain follower, and guess what you can carry on a conversation…..that is just too fabulous for me!

Now what if you are not an amazing little Antique Store, well what if you were a clothing store, a jewelry store, a bakery…some of my most famous photos are food!  It does not matter who you are all it matters is that you get creative and you get out there to promote yourself.

Happy Instagraming!

My Apps for Surviving Travel

I have been lost in the “Windy City” for the past few days, and I officially fallen in love with a few new Apps on my I phone.    Who knew I could fall in love with technology….but I have!

My Love for Instagram…
An Instagram Photo
I first refused to download Instagram after seeing it pop up on all my friends Facebook post, then one day I caved; downloaded the silly App and  I yep I fell in love!  Instagram is must for quick editing snap shots while on the go, sharing photos, and tracking.  I do not share every photo that I take on Instagram, but I Geotag every one to track where we have been.  2 thumbs up to the makers of Instagram, I love you!

My Affair with Postagram….
Send postcard’s from you phone….and they are CHEAP.  Just 2 days before departing for the Windy City, I received a text invite from a friend to check out this Postagram App.  I knew the sender is much more tech savvy than I, so I downloaded the app….and now I am so grateful I did!  I am constantly sending photos to our beloved GaGa (great grandma), and this App makes it SOOOO much easier!

My Sanity Saved with Trip Advisor City Guides….
As you know Chicago is no small city, and normally I rely on books, maps, and travel guides from the Visitor’s Centers and CVB’s.  This time I found Trip Advisor City Guides a step above anything sent to my by the Chicago Visitor’s Center, any other Apps that I found…even the ones I elected to pay for, or my normal GPS.  Trip Advisor City Guides is an interactional, on the go, City Guide to many cities around the world.  What I love, is I can search what’s close by, the top things around  me, and then it points me on my way…..for this small town girl in the big city, this was a true SANITY saver!  High-5 to Trip Advisor for this great App!

Peace out my friends!
